LGA Labour Group and the National Policy Forum
LGA Labour Group and the National Policy Forum
The LGA Labour Group plays an active role in the Labour Party’s policy making process – Partnership in Power. For an explanation of how PiP works, please see the Labour Party website.
The second year consultation documents were published in 2007 and the LGA Labour Group submitted responses to these documents, putting forward a view on the issues raised from a local government perspective.
We organised a series of NPF seminars for Labour councillors based around the NPF second year consultation documents in order to inform our submissions. The first was held in Wolverhampton on 7th December 2007, where thirty councillors met Pat McFadden MP (and Chair of the NPF) and Liam Byrne MP (Regional Minister for the West Midlands) and engaged in policy discussions around education, housing and employment. The second seminar was held on 2nd February in London with Hazel Blears MP at the Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre. Over 60 councillors from London and the South East took part. The final seminar was held in Manchester on 22nd February. with Hazel Blears MP and Beverley Hughes MP.
